Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Libyan Trade Delegation.

322.

Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the reported snub of a Libyan trade delegation on a recent visit to Ireland.

A Libyan delegation visited Ireland for the first session of the Irish-Libyan Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technological Co-operation which was held in Dublin from 9 to 12 May. The meetings which took place were very successful and it is expected that Irish trade with Libya will benefit substantially. I am not aware that any snub was offered to the Libyan delegation, intentionally or otherwise. On the contrary, the Libyan delegation expressed their satisfaction with the visit.
