Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - British Naval Vessel Incursions.

323.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement regarding the recent incursions by British naval vessels in Irish territorial waters in Carlingford Lough, County Louth; and the action, if any, the Government propose to take in the matter.

I am aware of two incidents involving British naval vessels in Irish territorial waters in Carlingford Lough, County Louth, this year. The Government have always taken a serious view of any interference with vessels in Irish waters and in both cases, the matter was taken up by my Department with the British authorities in Dublin and our concern about the incidents was expressed.
