Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - National Manpower Service.

386.

asked the Minister for Labour the progress being made in the total computerisation of the National Manpower Service including its offices and sub-offices; the projected cost of computerisation; and when the system will be in operation.

The installation of computer equipment in the offices of the National Manpower Service in O'Connell Bridge House, D'Olier House, Coolock, Finglas, Dún Laoghaire and Bray, is completed and testing of the system is in progress. It is anticipated that it will be fully operational in all the offices mentioned by the end of this year.

It is proposed to carry out a feasibility study on the extension of computerised facilities to the other offices of the National Manpower Service in the near future.

The cost of the computer equipment for the East region was £162,000 excluding VAT. Maintenance costs will be in the region of £17,000 per annum based on current costs.

It will not be possible to give an indication of the cost of extending the system to the remaining offices until the feasibility study has been completed.
