Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

515.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make moneys available to provide for coastal protection from Kilfenora, County Clare to Fenit, County Kerry.

The statutory preliminary examination of the proposals by Kerry County Council for protection works to parts of the coastline between Kilfenora and Fenit has been undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works. The facts as revealed in the examination are under consideration by the commissioners with a view to making a determination under section 4 of the Coast Protection Act, 1963, as to whether the circumstances are such that the preparation and execution of a scheme is warranted or feasible. The question of the allocation of moneys cannot arise until that determination has been made and other consequential processes required by the Act have been completed.
