In August 1982 draft proposals for statutory registration were put to a number of health and social professions which at present do not have such regulatory bodies. Following consultation with the various professions concerned and having considered their views revised proposals were put to the professions in March last. Further consultations are at present taking place on the revised proposals and it is too early yet to say when legislation will be introduced or which professions will be included. Hopefully the consultations will soon be completed and I will then be in a position to put proposals to the Government.
