Vol. 345 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda Hospital.

365.

asked the Minister for Health when his Department will give details of the programme for the replacement of St. Mary's Geriatric Hospital, Dublin Road, Drogheda, County Louth; if he is aware of the need for the replacement of this unit and of the substantial numbers who are waiting to be hospitalised in geriatric units in the Drogheda area, with particular reference to Drogheda town; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the numbers awaiting admission to geriatric units in the Drogheda area and of the need for the replacement of St. Mary's Geriatric Home in Drogheda. While a planning brief for a replacement unit for this home has been prepared the priority accorded to this project by the North Eastern Health Board has been such that it has not been possible within the capital resources available to approve the appointment of a design team.
