This applicant who applied for a new house grant in January 1978 received a low rise mortgage from Cavan County Council and, as is usual in such cases, authorised the Department to pay the £1,000 grant to the local authority in return for having the purchase price of his house reduced by £1,000. Due to technical difficulties the local authority did not reduce the sale price and have now informed the Department that the grant may be paid directly to the applicant. This will be done as soon as possible.
