Vol. 345 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Employment.

260.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if the IDA have any special plans to provide employment in the Tallaght area of County Dublin.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that they are making every effort to promote the Tallaght area for industrial development. Already, the IDA have successfully attracted a number of large companies to Tallaght, for example, Bearcat International, Packard Electric (General Motors), Loctite and Fujitsu which together employ about 1,450 people.

The IDA, in conjunction with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, have recently commissioned the NIHE, Glasnevin, to prepare an economic profile of Tallaght and Clondalkin which will assist in the planning of the future development of these towns.

The IDA are continuing to promote their 25 acres of industrial land and their 18,600 sq. ft. advance factory in Tallaght for new industrial projects. There is also a considerable amount of private factory space and land available in the area which is also being promoted for industrial projects.
