Vol. 345 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Sub-Post Office.

303.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if an application from the Raheny area, Dublin 5, to establish a sub-post office in the St. Anne's estate area will be given priority in view of the high population density there and the number of signatures received in favour of such a facility.

New sub-post offices are not normally opened within a mile of an existing office. Raheny post office which is within half a mile of St. Anne's estate and the post offices at Harmonstown, Edenmore and St. Gabriel's Road are all within a mile of it. These are considered adequate to cater for the postal needs of the area and the establishment of a further office could not be supported.
