asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12.

Arrangements have been made to provide service for the person named. A problem with the cabling has arisen but this is now being attended to and it is expected that service will be provided within about two months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the date on which a public telephone kiosk which has been sanctioned for some time will be erected at Fahy Gardens, Galway Road, Loughrea, County Galway.

It is expected that a kiosk to serve the general area including Fahy Gardens will be erected within the next six months or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a public telephone kiosk will be erected at Glentane, Ballymacaward, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

Glentane is not included in this years programme. It will be considered for inclusion in a future programme.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason so many subscribers in the Clondalkin area of County Dublin experienced such an appalling telephone service during the past six months; the steps he proposes to take to rectify this situation; and if he will grant a rental rebate to all affected subscribers.

Service is unsatisfactory during some busy periods at present due to congestion at Clondalkin exchange which affects both outgoing and incoming calls.

Relief will be afforded with the introduction of a new exchange which will replace the existing step-by-step exchange and two mobile units.

It is expected to be in service about mid-1984 subject to early settlement of an industrial dispute affecting a contractor, which has delayed the bringing into service of the new exchange.

Rebates are only allowed where the subscriber or subscribers concerned are totally without service.

It has not been possible to transfer telephone service for the person named so far because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Dublin area.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone kiosk will be provided in Simmons Place off Summerhill, Dublin, where many elderly people live and where his Department is now establishing a new depot; and if regard will be had to the incessant vandalism of kiosks at their present location in Summerhill Parade.

The provision of a public telephone kiosk in Simmons Place is not regarded as warranted at present and it is therefore not proposed to provide one there.

The existing kiosks at Summerhill Parade are not considered to be subjected to an excessive degree of vandalism.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reasons a telephone account was not investigated for a person (details supplied) in Dublin; and if he will ensure that the matter will be investigated immediately.

The subscriber has disputed two accounts one of them of fairly recent date. The investigation of both complaints is expected to be completed very shortly.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telephone service has not yet been provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who paid a deposit of £289 on 17 August, 1982; and when it is expected that service will be provided.

When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and to make advance payment it was expected that service would be provided within about three months.

Regrettably an unforeseen difficulty arose in connection with the telephone number allocated. This has now been resolved and it is expected that service will be conected within the next two weeks or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will grant a rental rebate to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14 for the period December 1982 to March 1983, inclusive, because his telephone was out of order during that period for a period of approximately nine weeks; and if he will investigate complaints made that the number of telephone calls for which he was billed was excessive.

A rebate of rental is being arranged for the period without service, and it is expected to reach agreement shortly regarding a rebate for the number of telephone calls used.
