asked the Minister for the Environment the total number of driving tests taken in the Dublin area during the last six months; and the number of failures.

In the six month period ended 25 November 1983, some 11,000 driving tests were conducted in the Dublin area. As a result of these tests, 5,200 applicants did not qualify for a certificate of competency, representing a failure rate of 47 per cent.
