Vol. 347 No. 1

Written Answers. - Burtonport (Donegal) Harbour.

321.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the amount of money that was included in the 1983 Estimates for improvements to Burtonport harbour, County Donegal; and if any allocation of money has been made for this work in the 1984 Estimates.

A notional allocation of £500,000 was originally included in the Fisheries Estimates for 1983 towards the cost of dredging work at Burtonport harbour. However, it was not possible for a number of reasons to include this work in the harbour improvement programme for that year.

My Department, in consultation with the Office of Public Works, are at present examining what new fishery harbour improvement works can be undertaken this year having regard to the estimated amount needed to meet expenditure on contract works in hands and the up-to-date estimates of expenditure which will be needed and which can be set aside out of the amount provided in this year's Estimates for urgently needed new works. Dredging work in Burtonport harbour is being considered in this examination.
