Vol. 347 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda Harbour.

331.

asked the Minister for Communications the amount of money allocated in the public capital programme 1984 for the repair and development of Drogheda Harbour.

332.

asked the Minister for Communications the part of the £1.6 million grants in the 1984 Estimates for harbours that will be allocated to the Drogheda Harbour Board to enable the board to carry out vital repairs to the harbour.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 331 and 332 together.

The Government have approved borrowings by Drogheda Harbour Commissioners of £50,000 from the Local Loans Fund in respect of the cost of reconstruction of the Steampacket and Deepwater Quays which has already been completed.

An application for grant assistance for the reconstuction of Ballast Quay and Welshman's Quay at the port has also been received from the Harbour Commissioners, but no decision has yet been made in this matter pending receipt of additional information which has been sought by my Department from the commissioners.
