asked the Minister for Finance the number of licensed dogs in the country on 31 December 1983, 31 December 1973, 31 December 1963 and the total revenue taken on each of these years through dog licences.

asked the Minister for Finance the total number of dogs in the country on 31 December 1982, 1973 and 1963; the number of various types of dogs in the country.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 353 and 355 together.

Information in the form requested by the Deputy is not available. Official statistics are kept of the numbers of dog licences issued in each financial year; however, because a general licence may be taken out covering all dogs kept by a person in a year, statistics of the precise numbers of licensed dogs are not available.
