Vol. 347 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

520.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when one week's disability benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The person concerned was disallowed payment of disability benefit from 10 December 1983 following an examination by a medical referee who expressed the opinion that he was capable of work.

The date of the latest medical certificate received is 10 December 1983 and the claimant has accordingly received all benefit to which he is entitled.

521.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the problem being experienced by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 in regard to the non-payment of unemployment benefit in 1979; and if it is possible to have this matter dealt with urgently and a solution found as quickly as possible.

The person concerned did not claim unemployment benefit from this Department, but it would appear that he claimed unemployment benefit at a British local office of the Department of Health and Social Security when resident in Great Britain in 1979. However, there is no trace in the records of this Department of an application from the British authorities to furnish details of his Irish contribution record for the purpose of determining his entitlement to unemployment benefit under the provision of EEC Regulations.

My Department are taking up the matter with the Department of Health and Social Security, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and, if appropriate, full details of his contribution record will be provided to enable his unemployment benefit claim to be processed.
