asked the Minister for Agriculture when a headage payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named will be paid his cattle headage grant under the 1983 Disadvantaged Areas Schemes as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed.

He will, along with 140,000 other farmers, be paid premium on calves born between 1 January 1983 and 15 June 1983 during the next round of payments under the EEC Calf Premium Scheme which will commence later this month and continue for a further two months.

As soon as the person named supplies the documentary evidence of ownership of lands which he has been requested to supply, his application for cattle headage grant under the 1983 Disadvantaged Areas Schemes will be processed.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will expedite payment of a water grant under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

It is a condition for the payment of grants to development farmers under the Farm Modernisation Scheme that an extract of farm accounts is submitted for each year of the farm development plan.

The applicant in this case is a development farmer. As the relevant farm accounts extracts have not been received for part of the period concerned he has forfeited entitlement to the development rate of grant and to the special aids available to development farmers. Payment at the lower rate will be made when normal processing procedures have been completed.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will expedite payment of a farm modernisation grant for fence removal and a roadway to a person (details supplied) in County Cork as it is outstanding for some time.

The grant will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 537 and 538 together as the person named is the same in each case.

The grant of £1,129 has been paid.

The person named has been requested to produce evidence of slaughter of four cows which were not present in his herd when inspected. When he does so, my Department will process his application.
