On 6 January 1984, I announced approval of the Cork (County Borough and County) Traffic and Parking Rules, 1984. I also announced that these rules provide a model which will enable early action to be taken on traffic and parking by-laws submitted by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána for other areas including County Galway.
Consultations are currently in progress between the Garda authorities and my Department on the issue as a matter of urgency and I expect to be in a position to approve traffic and parking measures for these areas by the end of the next month.
