asked the Minister for the Environment whether approval has yet been given for the mechanical plant documents for the Oughterard regional water supply scheme — stage II — phase II; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Approval to the contract documents for the water treatment plant, pumping plant and flouridation plant contracts of the Oughterard regional water supply scheme, stage 1, phase 2, issued to Galway County Council on 2 November 1983. The council's recommendation as to the acceptance of tenders for the scheme is awaited. There are no further proposals for the Oughterard scheme awaiting approval in my Department.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the contract documents for Rosmuck regional water supply scheme which were submitted by Galway County Council in September 1978 will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Contract documents for the Rosmuck regional water supply scheme, which have been submitted to my Department by Galway County Council, are under consideration at present. The question of approval to the contract documents must, however, be considered in the context of the capital available for sanitary services and the large number of fully approved schemes in progress or getting to construction for which adequate finance must be provided. In the circumstances I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to convey a decision on the Rosmuck scheme to the local authority.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a water supplies order and compulsory purchase order will be made for Gort regional water supply scheme — stage 1 — County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Public local inquiries into objections (a) to the water rights proposal, (b) the compulsory purchase order and (c) Galway County Council's proposal to construct two reservoirs as part of this scheme were held on 8 and 9 November 1983. I can assure the Deputy that there will be no avoidable delay in processing matters arising from these inquiries.

Approval to the preliminary report for the Oranmore sewerage scheme issued to Galway County Council on 11 October 1982. The further planning of the scheme is now a matter for the local authority.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in proceeding with the proposed Kilronan serwerage scheme, Aran Islands, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in preparing the preliminary report by Galway County Council on the proposed Barna sewerage scheme, County Galway.

Approval of preliminary proposals for the Barna sewerage scheme issued to Galway County Council in June 1971. The further planning of the scheme is a matter for the local authority. I understand, however, that the local authority are now having a revised preliminary report prepared in the light of developments in the area since the approval of the original proposals.
