asked the Taoiseach the value of footwear imported at the latest date for which figures are available; and if he will express this as a percentage of the Irish market.

Dún Laoghaire): Imports of footwear were valued at £67.3 million in the period January-October 1983.

While the precise information on market shares is not available, some information on component flows exists. I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the values at port or factory, as appropriate, of imports, exports and estimated home production of footwear in the period January-October 1983.
