Vol. 347 No. 1

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

261.

asked the Minister for the Environment the names of the group water schemes in Counties Monaghan and Cavan which have applied for payment of grants; the dates on which they applied; when it is expected that the grants will be paid; and the reason for the delay.

Payments of instalments of grants in respect of group schemes are not dependent on a formal application by the trustees and it is not possible, therefore, to identify individual schemes in the category indicated by the Deputy. In general instalments up to 90 per cent of the amount allocated are paid within three weeks of being certified by the Department's inspector as being warranted by reference to progress with the work.

As regards the final 10 per cent, it has been found necessary generally for some months past to insist on the submission by the trustees of a form confirming that water has been installed in each of the houses in respect of which the grant is to apply as a preliminary to the final inspection to establish that the scheme has been satisfactorily completed.
