asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and complies with all the other conditions of the grant scheme. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which it will be paid; the amount that will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This application has been refused because, contrary to the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), notification of completion of work and a claim for payment of the grant were not received in my Department by 30 June 1981.

A grant of £600 which has just recently matured for payment will be paid shortly.

A new house grant cannot be paid until an inspection establishes that the house is satisfactorily completed and occupied and complies with all the other conditions of the grant scheme. An inspection will be arranged when the applicant notifies my Department that all outstanding work has been carried out.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a mortgage subsidy in this case. An application form has now issued to the applicant.

The mortgage subsidy scheme applies only where a mortgage was executed on or after 10 April 1981. The mortage subsidy is not payable in this case as the mortgage deed was executed on 11 August 1980. The applicant has been informed accordingly.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date an application for a home improvement grant was received from a person (details supplied) in County Galway and the reason for delay in inspecting the premises.

This application was received on 17 November 1983 and there was no undue delay in inspecting the house.
