Vol. 347 No. 5

Written Answers. - Supplementary Scheme.

80.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of the £5 million allocated in 1983 for the supplement scheme for low income families in the active labour force which was applied for this purpose.

No amount of the £5 million allocated for a family income supplement scheme was spent for that purpose in 1983. As announced in the Budget Statement of 25 January 1984, the Family Income Supplement scheme, with an annual cost of £13 million, will come into operation in November. Full details of the scheme will be announced in due course.
