Vol. 347 No. 5

Written Answers. - Electricity Supply.

192.

asked the Minister for Energy when an application from a person (details supplied) in County Galway for aid towards the provision of an electricity supply will be approved.

Regulation No. EEC 1820/80, which governs the western package electrification scheme, is very strict with regard to eligibility. Article 4 of the regulation provides that only applicants who are dependant principally on agriculture for their income are eligible for assistance under the scheme.

On the basis of the information provided in his application and in the course of correspondence with my Department the individual named does not fulfil the requirement of Article 4. The Electricity Supply Board were so informed on 20 January, 1984 and will be in touch with the applicant in due course.
