Vol. 347 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Kerry TV Reception.

206.

asked the Minister for Communications if he is aware of the very poor RTE television reception in the Camp and Derrymore areas west of Tralee, County Kerry; the plans he has to improve the reception; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This is primarily a matter for RTE who say that these areas receive RTE 1 and RTE 2 television from the Maghera transmitter. RTE have no plans to improve television signals at present. Because of the nature of the terrain on the peninsula it is possible that individual viewers could experience reception difficulties and in such cases it is necessary for them to take special care with the type of aerial used and its positioning for receipt of the television signal.

RTE are aware of a particular interference problem in the Camp area and will be looking into this problem in the next couple of weeks.
