Vol. 347 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

297.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider paying a house grant to a family (details supplied) in Dublin 12, as the applicants never took their names off the Dublin Corporation housing list but were removed from it, without notice reaching them, when the corporation revised its list which it does from time to time.

This application was for mortgage subsidy in respect of a previously occupied house. Subsidy in such cases is allowable only where it is established, on the basis of a certificate from the local authority, that the applicant comes within one of the special categories provided for in the scheme. In the present case Dublin Corporation have indicated that the applicant has not been on their approved waiting list for a substantial number of years and that they cannot, therefore, certify that he comes within any of the special categories referred to.
