Vol. 348 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ballina Weir Box.

395.

asked the Minister for Finance the Department of State that asked the Office of Public Works to carry out work on the installation of the box known as "7th box" which is close to the weirs on the river Moy at Ballina; the reason given for the work; if that reason still pertains; and the use now being made of the box.

Works to restore pre-drainage salmon trapping conditions at the "7th box", Ballina Weir, were carried out about 15 years ago by the Commissioners of Public Works in consultation with the then Department of Agriculture and Fisheries under the Moy Drainage Scheme. The control and operation of this box is not a matter for the commissioners.
