asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given by her Department for the commencement of the extension to St. Joseph's primary school, Sunday's Gate, Drogheda, County Louth.

My Department have agreed, in principle, to grant-aid the provision of additional permanent accommodation at St. Joseph's national school, Sunday's Gate, Drogheda. A sketch scheme is at present being prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. When this has been agreed with the school authorities, my Department's formal grant sanction will be issued.

asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the proposed new national school at the Neale, Claremorris, County Mayo.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that contract documentation for the proposed new national school at the Neale, County Mayo is in course of preparation. My Department will be in contact with the school authorities as soon as the commissioners have indicated that this work has been completed, so that tenders may be invited.

asked the Minister for Education if she will expedite the erection of a new central national school (details supplied) in County Roscommon; the amount of the grant allocated; and the proposed commencement date.

It is understood from the Commissioners of Public Works that the preparation of working drawings for the new central national school in question is in hands. It is not possible at this stage to say when building work on the project may commence.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in paying a grant for the provision of a prefab at Baile Roibin national school in the parish of Hugginstown, County Kilkenny.

My Department are agreeable in principle to grant-aid the cost of the prefab provided at Baile Roibin national school, Hugginstown, County Kilkenny. They are at present considering representations from the school authorities in relation to the level of grant to be paid and will be in touch with the school authorities in the near future about the matter.
