Vol. 348 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Offaly School Equipment.

508.

asked the Minister for Education if she has received an application from the Salesian convent school at Gloster, Birr, County Offaly, in respect of the provision of computer equipment for this school as it will be of assistance; and if she will approve it as soon as possible.

An application for a computer from Scoil Muire gan Smál, Salesian Convent, Brosna, Birr, was received in my Department in June 1981. The school was not among the list of schools which were supplied with computer facilities in 1981 and 1982. As stated in the Programme for Action in Education, 1984-1987, it is intended to supply micro-computer facilities during the years 1984 and 1985 to those post-primary schools which have not as yet benefited under the scheme, provided that such schools have suitably trained personnel to use them. The application from Salesian Convent, Birr, will be considered in that context.
