Vol. 348 No. 2

Written Answers. - Career Guidance Qualifications.

512.

asked the Minister for Education the qualifications required by her Department for the appointment of a career guidance counsellor ex quota; and if qualifications from British universities are acceptable.

The requirements are that the teacher shall be a recognised teacher and shall hold a qualification in guidance which is acceptable to my Department.

The following qualifications in guidance are acceptable: (a) The Post-Graduate Diploma in Guidance (UCD); (b) The Diploma in Career Guidance (UCC); (c) The Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (Mater Dei Institute).

Other qualifications are considered on their merits on the basis of their equivalence to those quoted above.
