Vol. 348 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Schools.

510.

asked the Minister for Education if she will arrange for the early approval of an extension to a national school (details supplied) in County Roscommon; the position regarding the preparation of plans and application for planning permission; and when it will be advertised for tender.

A report from the Commissioners of Public Works on the feasibility of extending the school in question is under consideration in my Department and the outcome will be conveyed as soon as possible to the school authorities. Since the project is only at the preliminary stages of consideration, the questions of planning permission and advertising for tenders do not arise at this stage.

511.

asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the approval of a major extension to Ballaghadereen vocational school, County Roscommon.

The working drawings relating to the extension to Ballaghadereen vocational school are at present under examination in the Department. When this examination has been completed and the documentation found to be satisfactory, approval will be given to the County Roscommon Vocational Education Committee for the preparation of bills of quantities.

512.

asked the Minister for Education if she will allocate required funds for urgent development of a post-primary school (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

Discussions are being held with the school manager regarding the accommodation to be provided at the post-primary school in County Roscommon, details of which were furnished by the Deputy, prior to the initiation of planning of an extension. The question of the allocation of funds will not arise, until architectural planning has been completed.
