Vol. 349 No. 9

Written Answers. - Irish Embassies.

477.

asked the Minister for Finance the total number of embassies which Ireland has leased in foreign countries; the total cost of maintaining these buildings in each location; the total cost of maintaining staff in each location; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

478.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline in detail the total number of foreign embassies which Ireland owns overseas; the total cost of purchasing each embassy at each location; the date of purchase; the total annual cost of maintaining these buildings and the total cost of maintaining the staff in each building; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 477 and 478 together. Details of the embassies owned and leased by the State in foreign countries are shown on the attached schedules. The cost of maintaining staff in these buildings is not borne by my Department; this would be a matter for the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy may wish to seek the information from that Department.
