asked the Minister for Health if he will list the names of all children's homes in the country; the management responsible; the number of places provided; the age and the sex of the children at the end of 1983 and 1979; and if he will indicate the measures that he has taken in order to compensate any decline in places since 1979.

A tabulated statement giving the information requested is appended. Residential places available have declined by 9 per cent since 1979, due to more extensive casework on the part of social work personnel with families in their own homes and to the increase in the number of foster parents offering their services to the health boards. Occupancy levels in the homes are currently about 90 per cent/95 per cent on average.

Names of Children's Homes, including the Management responsible, the number of places provided and the Age and Sex of the Children.
