Vol. 349 No. 10

Written Answers. - Dublin Archaeological Past.

483.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the richness of the capital city's archaeological heritage, he will consider the appointment of a city archaeologist.

I assume that the question relates to the creation of such an office by Dublin Corporation. The creation of any office in a local authority is, in the first instance, a matter for that local authority and requires the consent of the elected members of the authority and is subject to my sanction. There is no proposal before my Department for the creation of an office of city archaelogist in Dublin Corporation.
