Vol. 349 No. 10

Written Answers. - EEC Regional Fund.

501.

asked the Minister for Finance if he proposes to seek an increase in the share of the EEC Regional Fund for designated areas.

Ireland is treated as a single region for European Regional Development Fund purposes; the fund is not allocated between designated and non-designated areas. In discussions, at present in progress, on the review of the Fund Regulation Ireland is maintaining pressure to ensure that its share of the Fund is maximised. Any increase in the fund's resources for Ireland would be reflected in an increase in the resources available for development in both the designated and the non-designated areas of the country.
