Vol. 349 No. 10

Written Answers. - Customs Clearance Station.

503.

asked the Minister for Finance the progress to date in the provision of a new road customs clearance station at Castleblayney, County Monaghan.

The question of providing a new customs road station at Castleblayney has been under consideration by the Revenue Commissioners for a number of years and to this end a site was purchased in 1980 on the Castleblayney-Keady road. However, having regard to the substantial cost which would be involved in providing a completely new customs complex, it was decided to retain the site and to re-examine the proposal to build when circumstances became more favourable or when there had been a material increase in the volume of traffic through the station which has not emerged to date.
