Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Meat Plants Veterinary Staff.

612.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the duties that have been allocated to the veterinary staff attached to meat factories which are temporarily closed; and if those staff are being paid by the Department of Agriculture at present.

The permanent professional veterinary staff at meat plants temporarily closed have been assigned to other meat plants and cold stores, or to duties under the Milk and Dairies Acts. These staff of course continue to be paid by my Department. Temporary part time staff who were assigned to these plants are not now required and the question of paying them does not arise.
