Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sale of Alcohol to Teenagers.

628.

asked the Minister for Justice if gardaí patrolling the Cabra area can take action regarding the sale of alcohol to very young teenagers from off-licence premises (details supplied) in Dublin 7 as local residents regard this as a major problem in their community.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Garda authorities that the business of the various premises in question is supervised regularly by the local gardaí and that the gardaí have on a number of occasions discussed with the licensees the problem of intoxicating liquor getting into the possession of young persons. The Garda believe, however, that the problem in this area arises principally through adults purchasing alcohol for consumption by young persons. The Garda will continue to give the matter attention.
