Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Bunclody (Wexford) School.

634.

asked the Minister for Education when the new extension to a post primary voluntary school (details supplied) in Bunclody, County Wexford will be sanctioned to go to tender; when construction will commence; if she will agree that it is inappropriate to apply the "Rationalisation Stage" to a development such as this for which the original application was submitted on 8 June 1977 and subsequently having passed all the planning stages completed the bill of quantities stages on 26 October 1983 when the school authorities were informed verbally that they would go to tender within 4-6 weeks; if she is aware of the deplorable conditions in this school and the fact that they have had no new permanent building since 1969 and that as construction will take a year the existing facilities may deteriorate to such an extent that the premises will be unusable by the time construction starts unless it is immediate.

I anticipate being in a position to communicate with the school authorities in this matter at an early date.

asked the Minister for Education when repairs and improvements will be carried out to a school (details supplied) in Annagry, County Donegal.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that a report from the school authority's architect on the improvements required at the school in question is being considered at present in their office. Until such time as the commissioners' recommendations have been received and considered it will not be possible to comment on what works may need to be undertaken. My Department will however communicate with the school authorities as soon as possible.
