Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Loughrea (Galway) School.

637.

asked the Minister for Education if she was (a) sanctioned the site for a school (details supplied) in Loughrea, County Galway, (b) accepted the design, (c) allocated the necessary finances and grants, (d) agreed the building dates, (e) made the necessary decisions pertaining to this new school; and if she will make a statement on the upto-date position of this school.

The Department have approved in principle the development of a new school on a new site at Woodford, County Galway, to cater for 200 students. The outline sketch scheme for this project is currently under examination in the Department. The question of the allocation of grant towards the cost of the construction of the new school only arises when architectural planning has been completed, and will depend on the capital resources available at that stage, taking into consideration the Department's other commitments and priorities. At this early stage of planning it is not possible to say when building will commence.
