Vol. 350 No. 12

Protection of Employees (Employer's Insolvency) Bill, 1984: Order for Second Stage.

Bill entitled an Act to confer, on the insolvency of employers, certain rights on employees, to amend certain enactments relating to the rights of employees and to provide for other matters (including offences) connected with the matters aforesaid.

I move: "That Second Stage be ordered for Tuesday, 5 June 1984", subject to agreement with the Whips.

In view of the considerable degree of uncertainty in regard to sittings of this House, is it the intention that we will sit next Tuesday? Normally this House does not sit on the day after a bank holiday for technical reasons.

I have no notice.

Has anybody?

(Dún Laoghaire): The Opposition Whip and myself spoke about this matter. In view of the fact that country Deputies will be here on Monday it is felt that it would be better to sit on Tuesday, rather than ask them to go home and come back on Wednesday.

Question put and agreed to.
