Vol. 350 No. 12

Written Answers. - Phoenix Park Amenities.

529.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has had any request from CIE to operate a public bus service through the Phoenix Park, Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The commissioners of public works have received no request from CIE for permission to operate a public bus service through the Phoenix Park, Dublin. The commissioners have a statutory obligation to maintain the Phoenix Park as a public park for the general purposes of the recreation and enjoyment of the public and, in view of this obligation, they would have to oppose any proposals which would detract from the amenities of the park.
