Vol. 350 No. 13

Written Answers. - Water Schemes.

522.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the Abbeyshrule, County Longford, group water scheme has not been sanctioned to proceed; the reason for the excessive delay; and if he will sanction it immediately.

The allocation of grants for this very large scheme will be considered when certain technical issues relating to the proposals have been resolved following consultation between my Department, the group and the county council and when completed grant application forms have been submitted by the group.

523.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the Rathowen, County Westmeath, group water scheme has not been sanctioned; and if he will approve it without further delay.

The proposals for this very expensive scheme are being examined to see if revisions can be made which would render it economically viable. In the circumstances I cannot say at this stage when grants will be allocated for the scheme.
