Vol. 351 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

471.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to pay a tax rebate to persons (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will give the reason for the delay in payment.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer, in respect of whom details have been supplied, ceased employment on 21 November 1983 but he did not submit a claim to repayment of tax until 6 February 1984. Additional information required to process the claim was subsequently supplied and a tax refund was issued on 19 April 1984. The taxpayer lodged a further claim on 4 April and a cheque in settlement will be issued to him shortly.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Finance when a refund of income tax will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and the total amount to be refunded.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted a claim to repayment of tax to the inspector of taxes on 26 April 1984. On receipt of the claim, a return of income form was issued to the taxpayer for completion to enable the inspector to carry out a review of her tax liability for the year 1983-84. However, there has been no response from the taxpayer and the inspector has now written to her again in the matter.
