Vol. 351 No. 8

Written Answers. - Secondary School Admission Refusal.

572.

asked the Minister for Education if she can establish the reasons a secondary school (details supplied) in Dublin 1 refused a place to a person; and if she is satisfied with the explanation given by the management of the school.

Secondary schools recognised in accordance with the rules for secondary schools are private institutions grant-aided by the Department of Education. Decisions in regard to the matter of the acceptance of a particular pupil for admission to the school are made by the manager of the individual school concerned. It would not be appropriate for me to offer observations on the action taken by the manager of the school in the particular case referred to in the question from the Deputy.
