Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Laois National School Extension.

154.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the long delay in dealing with the extension to Arles national school, Ballickmoyler, Carlow, County Laois, as it has been under consideration since 1980; and when the matter will be finalised so that work on the extension will commence.

The delay in proceeding with the extension to Arles National School, County Laois, was due to the imposition by the planning authority of conditions which were unacceptable to the Department of Education and to a change in accommodation requirements both of which occurred subsequent to invitation of tenders. It was necessary to prepare revised plans for consideration by the Department of Education and the planning authority and to re-invite tenders.

Tenders have been received today, 28 June and will be processed quickly with a view to the appointment of a contractor at the earliest possible date.
