Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - Western Health Board Dental Patients.

196.

asked the Minister for Health the number of patients, in the Western Health Board area, who are awaiting surgery in the Dublin Dental Hospital; if afternoon appointments can be arranged to allow the patients to travel from the west of Ireland; and if there are any proposals to provide oral surgery at the Regional Hospital, Galway.

At present 60 persons from the Western Health Board are awaiting surgery in the Dublin Dental Hospital. It is normal practice at the Dublin Dental Hospital to arrange appointments for patients from the Western Health Board area for 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Proposals for the development of Galway Regional Hospital have been formulated and these are currently being examined in my Department. Provision has been included in these proposals for a number of beds to cater for oral surgery.
