Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

223.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when deserted wife's benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

The person concerned has been awarded deserted wife's benefit for herself and five children with effect from 23 February 1984 at the maximum weekly rate of £99.30, reduced to £87.35 from 26 April 1984 when one of her children reached 18 years of age and was not in full time education.

An order book payable from 14 June 1984 was issued to the designated post office for collection by her and she was notified accordingly. Arrears for the period from 23 February 1984 to 13 June 1984, less deductions in respect of supplementary welfare allowance paid to her during that time, will be sent direct to the claimant by payable order within the next day or two.
