A milk recording service is used by about 3 per cent of dairy herds representing about 7 per cent of dairy cow numbers.
The responsibility for milk recording is now being transferred, on a phased basis, to the Irish Dairy Records Co-operative Ltd. and I expect that the numbers of cows recorded by that body will continue to increase over the next few years.
