Research into animal diseases is conducted at my Department's Central Veterinary Research Laboratory at Abbotstown, County Dublin. There are 74 people employed there on research, diagnostic and investigative work. No research on animal disease is carried out abroad specifically for my Department. Samples are occasionally sent abroad for confirmation of diagnosis.
