Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - Animal Drugs.

281.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if all animal drugs are tested; and if he is satisfied that the correct instructions are given in advertising and labelling of these drugs.

In implementation of EEC legislation, it is intended that an approval scheme for the full range of veterinary medicines will shortly be introduced. All such medicines will then be assessed for safety, quality, efficacy and strict labelling criteria will be applied. At present the Animal Remedies Act requires that each animal remedy may only be imported or sold if it is properly labelled.
